I Make ChampionsSeason 1
A serious sports coach with a whistle training a man folding a fitted bed sheet in a gym

I make
champions.

Not of the hundred metres. Not of the marathon. Of the fitted sheet, the parallel park, the jar that will not open. The disciplines you face every week, alone, with no coach and no crowd. Until now.

The method

Small sport.
Total commitment.

Every champion I train starts the same way: convinced they are bad at folding things. They are not bad. They are untrained. Nobody has ever stood next to them with a whistle and said, with complete seriousness, "corners first".

01Respect the discipline. A fitted sheet is not your enemy. It is your opponent. There is a difference.
02Train in public. Park in front of a terrace full of people. Pressure makes diamonds.
03Celebrate everything. You opened the jar. Raise it above your head. You have earned this.
Official disciplines

Choose your arena.

Fitted Sheet Folding

The marathon of the linen cupboard. Most quit at the second corner.

Difficulty: legendary

Parallel Parking

One attempt. No sensors. A bus waiting behind you. Go.

Difficulty: brutal

Jar Opening

Grip, torque, and the quiet confidence of someone who did not ask for help.

Difficulty: strength class

Gift Wrapping

Square box, exact paper, three pieces of tape. Points deducted per crumple.

Difficulty: technical

Untangling Cables

A drawer. Six chargers. One of them is for a phone you no longer own.

Difficulty: mental

Remembering Names

Introduced at a party. Used the name correctly ten minutes later. Gold.

Difficulty: social

The Last Slice

Leaving it for someone else without making it a whole thing.

Difficulty: spiritual

Flat-Pack Assembly

No leftover screws. No raised voices. Instructions consulted only twice.

Difficulty: team event
Your training camp

Pick your discipline.

Blow the whistle. The Coach assigns you a discipline, a three-drill programme and a target. Do not argue with the Coach.

Your discipline
The whistle has not been blown. The gym is silent. Somewhere a fitted sheet waits.
  1. Warm up your wrists.
  2. Stand like you mean it.
  3. Blow the whistle above.
Target: be ready
The trophy cabinet

Past glory.

A selection of titles won by champions of the programme. All names invented, all victories deeply felt.

  • '21Golden Jar, Open CategoryMargot, 71, opened a pickle jar her son had given up on. Did not gloat. Gloated a bit.
  • '22Fitted Sheet Grand SlamTheo folded four king-size sheets into perfect rectangles. His flatmate wept.
  • '23Parallel Park of the YearLeila, first attempt, in front of a bakery queue. The queue applauded. True story, in this universe.
  • '24Flat-Pack DoublesSam and Priya, one wardrobe, zero leftover screws, still married.
A podium with three ordinary people holding a jar, a fitted sheet and a parking cone as trophies under stadium lights
From the locker room

They believed.

"Before the Coach, I folded my fitted sheets into a ball and threw them in the cupboard. Now I fold them into a ball with intent."

Champion, linen division

"He made me parallel park eleven times outside my own house. My neighbours now call me Captain."

Champion, kerbside

"I did not know I could open a jar. I still run hot water on it. But I believe."
